CNC DIAGNOSTICS provides Ballbar diagnostic testing for CNC machining centres, using Renishaw QC20-W equipment to assess machine condition quickly, objectively, and with minimum disruption to production.
Testing is carried out using a structured, repeatable methodology aligned with ISO 230-4 principles, providing clear insight into positioning accuracy, servo behaviour, and geometric condition.
On-site Ballbar setup and test execution
XY-plane circular testing with continuous clockwise and counter-clockwise capture
Analysis aligned with ISO 230-4 diagnostic principles
Identification of common error sources including backlash, servo mismatch, squareness error, and cyclic effects
Clear written PDF report with plots, commentary, and practical guidance
What’s not included
Mechanical adjustment or repair work
Control parameter changes or optimisation
Machine acceptance testing or certification
This service is diagnostic and advisory in nature, designed to support maintenance teams by providing objective measurement and clear interpretation, rather than carrying out adjustments or repairs.
CNC Diagnostics provides independent diagnostic information only, enabling customers to make informed decisions using their preferred maintenance or service providers.
Additional Services by Quotation
Volumetric Diagnostic Insight
Using the Renishaw QC20-W wireless Ballbar, CNC DIAGNOSTICS can assess machine performance in the XY, XZ and YZ planes without re-centring between tests.
By analysing these three orthogonal planes, we provide volumetric diagnostic insight into geometric and servo-related behaviour within the tested working envelope.
This approach is aligned with ISO 230-4 Ballbar methodology and is intended as a diagnostic assessment, helping identify whether accuracy issues are localised or indicative of broader volumetric behaviour.
Laser-based volumetric calibration and machine compensation are not included.
